Stithians Ladies Choir recently put on a fantastic show to mark the end of summer with their Music for a Summer Evening event – all in aid of iSightCornwall!
Fresh from their win at the County Music Festival, it was the group’s first concert of this kind following the Covid-19 pandemic and it was a huge success with a large and very appreciative audience and being expertly led by Rev. Liz Harris.
The choir even debuted three brand new numbers for the show, which were greatly received.
The audience were treated to a wealth of varied songs and styles throughout the evening as the choir were joined by Carrick Consort who delighted with their selection of recorder performances as well as Soprano, Simone Hellier with the Choir’s own accompanist Rico Gerber on piano.
Ticket sales plus delicious refreshments and a well-supported raffle meant that the Choir raised a fantastic total of £653.02 for iSightCornwall which will be used to support people with sight loss across Cornwall.
Carole Theobald, Chief Executive of iSightCornwall, attended the concert as well as the Choir’s recent social evening where they presented her with a cheque for the charity.
Carole said: “We are extremely grateful that these talented ladies chose to raise money for us with this concert. All of the money raised will be spent in Cornwall to support people with sight loss whether this is in the form of transport solutions to get them to important hospital appointments, as part of our social clubs that help people stay active and independent or on one of our other vital services.
“A huge thank you to Stithians Ladies Choir and Friends for choosing to support our work at iSightCornwall.”
