iSightCornwall Board of Trustees
Here at iSightCornwall, we are lucky to be governed by a fantastic board of trustees from a number of different backgrounds.
Kerry Eldridge
Kerry is a senior HR professional with experience across the private, charity and public sectors. She is the Executive Director of People and Governance at Cornwall Care, the largest charity based Adult Social Care provider in Cornwall. Prior to this role, Kerry was the Executive Director of People and Organisational Development at RCHT. Kerry joined the board of trustees in 2022.
Clare Green (Vice-Chair)
Clare is Finance Director for Cornish Mutual. She is Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees as well as chairing the Risk and Audit Committee. Claire moved to Cornwall from London in 2011, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant and worked in the City as a Forensic Accountant. Now that she’s in Cornwall, Claire loves being able to walk the coastal path with her family and enjoy trips to the beach.
Ian McCormick (Chair)
Ian has been a senior manager of various universities large and small across the UK for the past 20 years. He specialises in external fundraising and contract management in research and service areas. Ian moved to Cornwall in 2010 and later set up his own management consultancy business.
Sight loss is a subject close to Ian’s heart after being diagnosed with glaucoma in 2015. He became a trustee in 2018 before becoming Chair of the Board in 2022. Over the years, he has been involved with several charities, including the Prince’s Trust, Operation Raleigh, and the German Institute for the Blind.
Marcus Slater
Marcus is the Managing Director of Reynolds & Slater Opticians with practices in Falmouth and Penzance. He is also a specialist optometrist for Glaucoma at RCHT. Marcus was part of the committee which successfully re-commissioned a post-Cataract assessment and Glaucoma Referral Refinement scheme for Cornwall. He joined the board of trustees in 2022.
Joe Stinton
Joe is on his second term on the board having originally joined us in 2008. Joe is visually impaired and aims to represent the views of visually impaired people across Cornwall. In 2009, he joined others to demonstrate for changes to the Disability Living Allowance. As a result, the Government made changes which meant that more visually impaired people were eligible for a higher rate of the allowance. Joe is also an active member of the Cornwall Association of Blind Shooters (CABS) in Helston.
Stephen Holyer
Steve was born in London but moved to the Lizard peninsula in 1964. After leaving school, Steve gained an apprenticeship with British Telecom at the Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station where he worked as a satellite communications engineer until 1993 when his vision deteriorated due to the condition Retinitis Pigmentosa. He has been a member of iSightCornwall for over 30 years. He joined the board in 2018 and is a member of the Risk and Audit Committee.
Steve is also the Director of Research at ADI Access Ltd and the creator of ‘RoomMate’, a device which provides bespoke audio descriptions in disabled access toilets to help people with visual impairments to become familiar with the surroundings.
William Westlake
William is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Royal Cornwall Hospital with specialist interests in glaucoma and cataract surgery. He has lived in Cornwall for more than 20 years and previously worked in London, Exeter, Bristol and Perth (Western Australia).
