We were delighted to welcome Pirate FM’s Johnny Cowling to iSightCornwall club, BUGS (Blind Using Guided Sights) Shooting Club last month as part of his Johnny on the Job series.

Johnny was greeted by our members who explained how they are able to shoot with limited sight before he gave it a go himself. Full of determination, Johnny took to the range and quickly got to grips with the equipment. Shooting without sight uses audio cues to tell the shooter how close their aim is to the target. It involves a lot of skill and practice to listen out and adjust until you are perfectly aimed.

Johnny did really well and even wanted to have a go at the member’s Polo Challenge, where shooters have to try and shoot through the middle of a Polo mint without damaging the sweet. The visitor came very close to completing the challenge but just caught the mint with his shot.
