Over the past 10 years, Anne and Alan Cox have organised more than 60 boat trips, presented around 500 talks and raised more than £10,000 for local charities.

The husband and wife duo give up their time to organise six boat trips a year through Enterprise Boats, even providing their own commentary on board and because the boats are chartered, they can go to parts of the Fal River that other boat trips don’t reach.

All of the profits from the ticket sales and onboard raffles go towards the couple’s chosen charities.

Keen historians, Anne and Alan also raise money by travelling around the county sharing their knowledge of local history with talks on all sorts of subjects from Cornish curiosities to Cornish lighthouses and life on the Isles of Scilly.

The donations from their presentations also go towards their charity fundraising.

“The amount of time that Alan and Anne dedicate to fundraising is phenomenal,” said Terri Rosnau-Ward, chief executive of iSightCornwall.

“We are so grateful that they have chosen to support us this year. We rely on donations to provide our essential services and all of the money raised stays in Cornwall to support local people living with sight loss.”

“Earlier this year we launched the Sight Appeal in a bid to raise £50,000. Thanks to Alan and Anne’s generous contribution we are now over halfway towards our target.”
