The Warm Home Discount is a government led scheme introduced in 2011 to offer support to those struggling to afford their energy bills.

What will I receive?

For Winter 2016 to 2017 you could get as much as a £140 reduction on your electricity bill.

The money does not get paid directly to you as it is a one-off reduction on your electricity bill between October and April.

The Warm Home Discount scheme does not affect your eligibility for your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment.

Am I eligible for the scheme?

You are eligible for the scheme if on 10 July 2016 the following applied:

  • Your electricity supplier was taking part in the scheme
  • Yours or your partners name was on the electricity bill
  • You were receiving the Guarantee Credit Element

What if I dont apply?

If you are on a low income or get certain means-tested benefits please check with your supplier to see if you are eligible.
