We’d like to say a huge thank you to Joanna Carthew for taking part in the Bodmin Lions Ten Tors walk on Sunday 15 May to raise money for iSightCornwall. Joanna has so far raised approximately £500 with more donations yet to come. Her employer, HSBC in Wadebridge, is going to match the amount Joanna raises, meaning that the grand total could be over £1,000.
Preventing sight loss is a cause close to Joanna’s heart after her husband contracted a rare eye infection and permanently lost the sight on one of his eyes. Acanthamoeba keratitis is rare disease in which amoebae invade the cornea of the eye and it mainly affects contact lens wearers.
Joanna and her husband want to raise awareness about this condition to help prevent other people from losing their sight.
